SlopeFest Stage
Past Performances on the SlopeFest stage have included the Stroll Competition held by the Multicultural Greek Letter Council and Cornell Idol held by Class Councils.
Stroll Competition
The annual Slope Day Stroll Competition held by members of the Multicultural Greek Letter Council is a public presentation of organizations who have prepared a blend of original movements and dance steps to battle for the group with the best stroll.
The history of strolling or "party walking" stems from the music and movement of African belief systems that were preserved in religious practices in the Americas. According to African American Fraternities and Sororities: The Legacy and the Vision, circular counterclockwise movements were used to make connections with the deities in Afro-Christian and Christian practices.
On Slope Day, a more secular tradition will continue with MGLC organizations strolling to Reggae, Hip-hop, and Latin music on an elevated stage on Ho Plaza. Come watch the competition and see who performs the best strolls!
Cornell Idol
The Cornell Idol is a singing competition open to the whole student body presented by the Class Councils. The winner of this competition performs at Slope Day on the SlopeFest stage.
