Top Ten Ways to Ensure a Fun Slope Day
(in no particular order)

Enjoy a good breakfast and eat regularly throughout the day.

The day is long, and if you don't remember to eat, it may get cut short. Keep your energy level high by picking up some of the amazing food available on the slope.

Those of you using campus housing also benefit from free breakfast offered near your dorms. Keep checking the site for an update about where and when you can find these breakfasts.

Dress appropriately.

Being in Ithaca, you get used to the weather being somewhat undesireable. Therefore, be sure to check the weather report before making your way to the slope.

Also, wear clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. Mud and grass stains on your favorite jeans can be a real downer.

Wear closed toe shoes to avoid having your toes stepped on.

Don't skip class.

It's often tempting to skip class to get a few extra hours of sleep before the music starts, but don't. Often professors and TA's will cover material on the final. Other professors are known to give very memorable Slope Day influenced lectures.

Drink water, lots of water.

Slope Day has historically been hot and humid. Drinking lots of water can prevent heat stroke, and allow you to get the most out of your day. Since water is FREE, there's no reason why you can't keep hydrated

Bring CU ID and government ID with you.

To get onto the slope, you will need a valid CU ID. If you plan on purchasing beer on the slope, you must have a government issued ID with photo.

If you are bringing a guest, you will need to purchase a guest ticket and accompany them through the gates. They will need a government issued ID with photo proving they are over 18.

If you are an alumnus, you need to purchase an alumnus ticket. Your old ID (if you still have it) will not get you onto the slope.

Leave your bags behind.

All bags have to fit into the test containers. Those that fit will need to be searched.

If you leave your bags in your apartments/ dormrooms, you can avoid the long bag-search lines.

Design a t-shirt, or buy the official one.

Designing t-shirts is a Slope Day tradition. It allows personal creativity and/ or pride to shine.

If you are in a sorority or fraternity, you will need to get your design approved by the university.

If you'd like to have an Official Slope Day T-shirt, keep checking the site for announcements.

Help pick the artists and activities.

Slope Day Programming Board is responsible for planning the events for the day, but we need help from the Cornell community. Make yourself heard, and help plan the largest event at Cornell.

Know the rules.

Familiarizing yourself with the rules of this event will ensure that you don't have any run-ins with security. This event hosts over 12,000 people, and the volunteer staff have no problem removing one person from the event to protect everyone else.

Be able to enjoy the event.

This means, watch out for friends and classmates. If you see that someone is injured or looks sick, flag down a volunteer or an EMT. If you can't find help, call (607) 255-1111 (the Cornell Police dispatch number).

It also means get a good night's rest and be responsible. This event is for your enjoyment, but it takes a lot of hard work to make it happen. If the Cornell community can prove that it can have fun safely, Slope Day can continue to grow. It's up to you to make this event a day to remember.
